Tonya,

Reading your summary brought back such wonderful memories. I'm actually wearing my festival t-shirt as I write this - what can I say, I've become an addict. I loved looking at the photos - the one of our hula lesson made me laugh out loud! I promise I've been practicing on my lovely purple uke (her name is Violet) and loving every minute of it!

Looking forward to next year's festival- and lunch!

Take care, Anita

Aloha, Tonya

George, Scott and I are a little overwhelmed by how much positive feedback we got. Thank you Tonya for the beautiful write up. I would like to thank everyone that attended the Windy City Ukulele Festival 2008. Ukulele people are the best people you could ever want to meet. We are honored and privileged to be able to host such a great event in the Midwest. Just to watch peoples faces light up with PURE joy of playing ukulele with other people in the jam sessions. WOW!!!

We will be having another Windy City Ukulele Festival in 2009. We promise that this one will be even better.

Keep Strumming, Singing and Smiling,

Tonya – I loved reading your account of the festival, you bring it all back so vividly.
It was my first festival and I really had a great time. The workshops were really top notch and our hosts George and Terry did an outstanding job for their first fest. They made me feel welcome with friendly email exchanges even before the event took place.

I will definitely be there next year and hope to see you and all the other great friends I made.

Oh one more thing Tonya…..I did not see mention of that little jabber-jaw incident when Gerald Ross was playing! That was too funny – it also is a great example of how this fest felt like a family get together.

ALOHA

Thanks, Curt. It's always fun to attend these events and share with others to hopefully convince them to seek out an ukulele festival in their neck of the woods.
---
Oh, Keenan, you're absolutely right about the aloha spirit. I was so surprised to find that feeling--in Chicago, for goodness' sake! I anticipated more enthusiasm about the ukulele in general but discovering the enthusiastic Hawaiian emphasis and true love of Hawaiian music, both contemporary and traditional, was what truly *made* this event so special. Mahalo nui loa to all involved for the aloha shared and love given.
---
I looked for you, Alan. I'm sorry you couldn't make it. It was a great time!

Aloha Tonya and a HUGE mahalo for the wonderful write-up of last weekend's WCUF! It brought back such fun memories, I can hardly wait to plan/play/attend next year's! It was truly a pleasure to meet so many people from all over with one thing in common - ALOHA! Yes, we all have a passion for the ukulele, but it's that ALOHA spirit that truly made the weekend a memorable one for me. I look forward to the next opportunity to meet, greet, and JAM with you again. Me ke aloha pumehana,

As usual, a great write-up by Tonya. Everyone had a blast at the festival and looking forward to more in the Chicago area in the future.
