Fabulous story!! Now if Armstrong could comment on your posting of that picture...but maybe that's been done already.

I'm going to see if the library has a copy of "Spashdown!" and check it out....incidently, I worked in aerospace (Sunnyvale) in the "tile factory" where the re-entry tiles were manufactured. It's a small world, after all.

Your mom sent me your web site blog about the ukes and the moon mission. Very interesting article that brought back memories for me, too. As a mother raising kids at that time, I feel like I grew up in that era also. What a rush it was.

And we were proud to know men like Bob [Tonya's father] who were such an integral part of world history. We also knew one of the men who developed the tile system that protected the spacecraft on re-entry. 'Guess they are still having issues with those.

Keep up the good work and keep enjoying the fun.

I thoroughly enjoyed your post. I'm a uke player and read the Flea Market Bulletin Board from time to time. I'm older than you are (well out of school in '68) but was every bit as much interested in space exploration. I was a freshman in college when we were all shocked by the successful Sputnik launching.

I first became acquainted with the ukulele during the early fifties. All my close friends played. I didn't pick it up again until after I retired in 2000. I can't think of an instrument attracts so many interesting and nice people.

You have a wonderful website.
