Paradise Library gets two “loaner” ukuleles!

Would you like to try playing the ukulele—but you don’t have an instrument? The Paradise Branch of the Butte County Library will soon have two Mahalo soprano-size ukuleles available for patrons to borrow. All you need is a library card! The ukuleles come in a lightweight case and are tuned at re-entrant GCEA tuning.

In addition to the ukuleles, there are also two sets of instructional materials for loan—one is a DVD specifically aimed at teaching kids to play and the other is a standard ukulele introduction music book with CD. The ukuleles will include information about the Ukuleles of Paradise group so borrowers can join others who love this little instrument. The ukuleles should be available for loan by mid-July.

The ukuleles and materials were donated by Connecticut resident Geoff Rezek; Geoff serves on the board of the Ukulele Hall of Fame Museum and has a personal goal to help create one million new ukulele players by the end of of 2007. Geoff is donating the ukuleles and materials to six libraries across the US—isn’t it great that our community is one of them? Thanks so much, Geoff!
